Lost Within a Dream

from Cosmic Poetry by SINVERSE

/

about

[After a while, the illusion of paradise starts to fade. There is no way for anyone to savor the eternal life that lies within without the occasional bitter taste of suffering. Realizing its mistake, mankind unsuccessfully tries to convince the artificial intelligence governing the system to make the necessary corrections.]

lyrics

So many years have passed
Since we’ve proclaimed ourselves
The masters of our fate

We took a leap of faith
And left reality behind
We sacrificed our flesh for peace of mind

Spoil me
Feed me with your lies
Take me to my paradise
Please me
Pleasure synthesized
Let me taste the highest highs

We took a leap of faith
How could it all have been in vain?
The sacrifice was meant to end the pain

I’m
Lost within a dream
Wide awake
Shattered illusions
Drowning out my screams

Trust me
This doesn’t feel the same
I can barely entertain
The empty
Promises now laying bare
We’ve only got ourselves to blame

I’m
Lost within a dream
Wide awake
Shattered illusions
Drowning out my screams
Sunk in apathy
I waste away
Crumbling delusions
Suffocating me

We took a leap of faith
How could it all have been in vain?
The sacrifice was meant to end the pain

I gave you resurrection
Yet still you dare to question me?
This perfect paradise
Will never cease to be

We took a leap of faith
Was our sacrifice too
Great?
Lost within a dream
Wide awake
Shattered illusions
Drowning out my screams
Sunk in apathy
I waste away
Crumbling delusions
Suffocating me
